10 Tips for a Seamless AI Video Creation Process

by Maggie Smoczynski

Creating an engaging AI video involves more than just stringing together random clips. It's about precision, attention to detail, and creativity. Here are some tips based on my personal experience to help you streamline your workflow, refine your AI-generated video, and elevate the overall viewing experience.

1. Video Length Consideration

If you're working with specific time constraints, meticulous planning is your best friend. Carefully structure scenes before generating any media, considering clip and narration duration. This ensures coherence within constraints and a smooth viewing experience.

2. Clip Naming for Organization

Don't underestimate the power of organization. Name your media files, especially audio, thoughtfully. This practice provides quick access during editing, reducing confusion, and maintaining a streamlined workflow.

3. Be Specific in Generation Prompts

Precision is key when instructing the AI. For consistent characters and scenes, be overly specific in your prompts. Utilize the names of specific people for character consistency, detailing attire, actions, facial expressions, location, lighting, and shot type in each prompt for a more consistent output.

4. Preview the Entire Scene Before Generating Clips

Before generating final clips, preview multiple shots for the entire scene. This ensures visual cohesion and prevents unnecessary credit wastage. Avoid refreshing the generation page during this process to retain previews.

5. Dynamic Storytelling

Craft your story dynamically. While a rough outline is helpful, don't hesitate to adjust and refine as you go. This ensures a narrative that makes sense and engages your audience effectively. If there's a time limit, be flexible with clip lengths to stay within bounds. Balancing creativity with constraints leads to a compelling video.

6. Transition Scenes

Integrate transitions strategically to maintain a smooth flow between scenes. Well-placed transitions enhance the logical progression and serve as establishing shots, preventing choppiness.

7. Lock Finalized Media

Once your media is finalized, lock it. This protects your carefully crafted scenes from accidental edits, allowing you to focus on additional elements without disruption. Unlock when needed, but always err on the side of caution.

8. Sound Effect Planning

Sound effects are vital for immersion. After assembling your video, take the time to write down the necessary sound effects to download. This step ensures that you capture the right atmosphere, enhancing the overall viewing experience.

9. Timing for Music Selection

Generate and select music after assembling your clips to prevent timing issues and mismatched beats. Play your video while generating music to adjust the tempo as the scenes progress. This approach allows you to sidestep the hassle of regenerating music, ensuring a seamless audio-visual experience.

10. Adjust Audio Levels

Every audio clip has a different volume level. Adjust narration, sound effects, and music to appropriate volumes for a pleasurable viewing experience. Narration should sit at -6db to -15db, sound effects at -14db to -20db, and music at -18db to -20db. Experiment and find a balance that sounds right to your ears.

Remember, video creation is a dynamic journey. Embrace the creative opportunities AI provides and enjoy the process. Best of luck with your video creation – you’ve got this!
